I get to travel to some amazing museums and exhibitions throughout the UK, for which I feel extremely privileged.
I initially started working at Unusual Projects as a multi skilled technician mainly operating out of the Electronics department, after a few months working on various projects my background and experience opened up opportunities to deliver the Maintenance & Warranty work associated with our wonderful interactive projects.
Due to the nature of this role I get to travel to some amazing museums and exhibitions throughout the UK, for which I feel extremely privileged. It’s quite humbling to stand in the Tower of London as a technician instead of a tourist and watch the visitors using interactive exhibits that Unusual Projects have designed and manufactured. More recently I was involved in the design, manufacture and installation of several interactive pieces in Oman. This was an amazing opportunity which I am proud to be part of, it ranks very high in my life experiences.
My day is usually very varied, including production meetings, project discussions, client communications, prototyping, site visits, scheduling to name but a few, all interesting and necessary. As keen guitar builder I like to think I have an eye for detail, and in the workshop this is a definite asset, to identify and resolve potential and actual problems from the production process, after all, it’s too late if the client sees it!
I get to work alongside, and glean new skills from, a wide range of technicians, creatives, designers and management with a wealth of experience in our industry. Every day is a learning day which makes my role even more rewarding.
One of the most important aspects of working for Unusual Projects for me is the uniqueness of our business and enjoying being part of a team with the same goal: perfecting and delivering great products.
