Life on Board Exhibition
Client: Merseyside Maritime Museum
Scope: Design Development, Build and Installation of physical and mechanical interactives and themed prop works
We were appointed by Elmwood Projects to work with the in-house client team to develop their concept ideas for physical and mechanical interactives. The interactives are based predominately on a family audience and compliment the look and feel of the gallery as well as being accessible for all ages and ability.
The tactile interactives needed to be high quality, robust, durable, easily cleanable and safe for all visitor use. The museum receives a high volume of visitors so the interactives needed to be able withstand high level of usage, with low maintenance solutions. We worked with the client team to design develop, build and install a series of exhibits including Block & Tackle, Knot Tying, Gruesome Jobs and a Tattoo based interactive. We also developed an exhibit based upon stacks of themed period suitcases which in addition to high quality theming also act as display cases and provide areas for additional interpretation.
“Unusual Projects delivered the tactile interactives for the new gallery, Life on Board, at the Merseyside Maritime Museum. The team were a pleasure to work with, professional, enthusiastic, imaginative, and very helpful in providing innovative solutions to help realise some of our concept ideas and designs. The interactives were finished to an extremely high standard and are a perfect addition to a popular new gallery.”
