Client: National STEM Learning Centre
Scope: Model Refurbishment
We love working with Lego! We love working with the National STEM Learning Centre! So we are over the moon to be selected to work with them to restore a stunning Soyuz capsule made entirely from Lego. The model takes pride of place in the Resource Centre
It was commissioned by The UK Space Agency in 2015 to coincide with Tim Peake’s Principia mission and was built by Bright Bricks and first installed at the Science Museum, London. The model is 2.5 m high, 1.6m in diameter and weighs over 800 kg. It’s about 2/3 the size of the orbital docking module of the Soyuz spacecraft and contains around 160,000 Lego® Bricks.
“The team at Unusual Projects were fantastic. They took care of everything and were really supportive and flexible, particularly as there were some tight deadlines to meet and several challenges to overcome. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you Unusual Projects.”
Jenny Toft-Eriksen, Project Assistant, National STEM Learning Centre
