Interactives Technician
Unusual Projects undertake a wide range of bespoke, creative projects predominately in the museums, heritage, science centre and arts sector. The position requires a minimum of 2 years experience within a similar area and market. Our Interactive Technicians need to be methodical, well organised with excellent attention to detail and expert knowledge of manufacturing materials, promote health & safety, have high quality standards and liaise with designers and other contractors to ensure coordination of works.
In your role as Interactive Technician you will, in no particular order:
• Report and provide support to the Head Interactives Technician
• Work to the hours supplied by the Project Manager
• Work to the programme of the Production Manager
• Meet with the design and technical team to contribute and understand fully the brief, client requirements and the designers intent
• Undertake maintenance of interactive exhibits on site, which may require travel away from home.
• Identify and report to the Project Manager areas of change throughout the project which may affect costs and programme
• The build of exhibits including the manufacture and testing of prototypes.
• Ensure the exhibit meets Unusual Projects high quality standards
• Coordinate with specialist suppliers
• Diligent approach to Health & Safety
• Advise designers to reflect changes made during the off and on site construction phase for ‘as built’ records.
• Provide support in the organisation of machines, materials, equipment to meet production schedules
• Assist with the training of production personnel in all safety, quality and job skill requirements
• Ensure specification compliance
• Support the Head Interactives Technician with ‘Goods In’ system
• Ensure the housekeeping standards are maintained and that waste is controlled and disposed of properly
• Participate in post project reviews
As an Interactive Technician with Unusual Projects you will need:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to undertake site work both in the UK and Abroad
• Knowledge of CNC operations and programming
• Ability to read detailed drawings and plans
• Relevant qualifications pertaining to the role
• Respect confidentiality
• The ability to solve problems and make decisions using your own initiative
• Be efficient, detail and quality minded, hardworking, flexible and responsible with a positive working attitude
• Commercially minded throughout the exhibit development
• Be a team player – support all departments in a collaborative manner
• Ability to work to program and deadlines
• A full UK driving licence
Working Hours
0830 – 1730 Monday to Friday (40 pw)
Core Hours 0900 – 1600
Breaks 1030 & 1500 Paid (15 mins)
1230 Unpaid (30 mins)
Remuneration
Pay Scale – Production 1 – 10 (£25,000 – £45,000)
PDS £30 per day
Holiday
Year One – 22 Days
Start of Year Two – 25 Days
End of Year Three – 28 Days
