My unusual projects life with hattie braithwaite

I work with a range of inspiring people who are helping me along my journey. After completing my degree in Set Design for TV and film, I was lucky enough to get a job at Unusual Projects as a Junior Project Assistant. On a normal day you will find me on the workshop floor alongside my widely experienced male counterparts, developing my skills on the CNC machine, laser cutter or circular saw.

One of my favourite parts of my job is being fortunate enough to go on site, being able to see our designs and projects coming to life and being enjoyed in the real world. Recently, I was given the opportunity to install a project that I have worked on in the workshop from start to finish, and seeing the satisfaction of a happy client was brilliant.

Since starting at the company as a volunteer, I have received excellent support and guidance, enabling me to grow in confidence and progress to a full-time role. I work with a range of inspiring people who are helping me along my journey. As well as the many talented male staff, I am surrounded by strong female role models who continue to encourage me to push myself beyond my comfort zone.

I contacted Unusual Projects as a recent graduate striving for my first role in the creative industry. Now, almost one year later, I am proud to call myself part of the family and part of the team.
