modern slavery statement

Slavery and human trafficking is a hidden blight in business. We all have a responsibility to understand and be alert of the possibility of risk in our business and wider supply chain. We recognise that Unusual Projects has a moral duty to ensure that the way we do business does not negatively impact others by following the guidance issued in the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Unusual Projects is a specialist exhibit developer, builder and installation company providing bespoke services to the Heritage, Science Centre and Visitor Attraction Industries. Our Parent Company is Beck MBI, our Head Office is based in Surrey, United Kingdom. Our workshops are based in York, United Kingdom.

We employ 28 both full and part time employees as part of our flexible working arrangements, we also engage additional specialist suppliers and services as our projects require. Our team members induction includes explanation of our modern slavery statement.

Our supply chains are predominately UK based and we are committed to ensuring our suppliers meet the highest standards of ethics and demonstrate fair working conditions. We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business.

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk:

  • We build long-standing relationships with local suppliers and make clear our expectations of business behaviour.

  • Have a policy of “knowing our customer” to ensure that we are contracting with appropriate businesses.

  • With regards to national or international supply chains, our point contact is preferably with a UK company or branch and we expect these entities to have suitable anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes.

  • Have in place systems to encourage the reporting of concerns and the protection of whistle blowers.
