Project Assistant

Unusual Projects undertake a wide range of bespoke, creative projects predominately in the museums, heritage, science centre and arts sector. Our Project Assistants need to be methodical, well organised with excellent attention to detail and knowledge of manufacturing materials, understand drawings and to be flexible and a team player.

In your role as Project Assistant you will, in no particular order:

  • Report to the Development Director

  • Work on projects as directed by the Operations Manager

  • Assist the team by;

  • Compile Bills of Materials

  • Placing and monitoring orders as required

  • Monitor Goods In processing and updating of the Bill of Materials

  • Hands-on involvement in our workshop including manufacture and testing of prototypes.

  • Reviewing and updating system documentation

  • Assist with compiling Operations & Maintenance Manuals

  • Assist with Maintenance Contracts including compiling maintenance reports post visit

  • Diligent approach to Health & Safety

  • Work to the hours supplied by the Project Manager

  • Work to the programme of the Production Manager

  • Ensure the exhibit meets Unusual Projects high quality standards

  • Advise designers to reflect changes made during the off and on site construction phase for ‘as built’ records.

  • Ensure the housekeeping standards are maintained and that waste is controlled and disposed of properly

  • Participate in post project reviews

As a Project Assistant with Unusual Projects you will need:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Respect confidentiality

  • Be efficient, detail and quality minded, hardworking, flexible and responsible with a positive working attitude

  • Commercially minded

  • Be a team player

  • Ability to work to programme and deadlines

  • A full UK driving licence

  • A knowledge and experience of the following software:

  • Windows

  • MS Office

Working Hours

  • 0900 – 1730 Monday to Friday (40 pw)

  • Core Hours 0900 – 1600

  • Breaks 1030 & 1500 Paid (15 mins)

  • 1230 Unpaid (30 mins)

Holiday

  • Year One – 22 Days

  • Year Two – 25 Days (After one full year of service)

  • Year Three – 28 Days (After three full years of service)
