World War I Trench

CLIENT: IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM, LONDON

SCOPE: SCENIC SET WORKS AND PROPS

We are incredibly proud to announce the completion of our latest project: refurbishing the First World War trench at the Imperial War Museum London. This project has been a labour of love, dedication, and respect for history.

Our team worked tirelessly with the experts at IWM London to ensure that the trench is an authentic and powerful representation of the conditions faced by soldiers during the Great War. By recreating this important piece of history, the project team hope to educate and inspire future generations about the sacrifices made during this pivotal time.

We created full sized sandbags walls in our workshop in York. Each sandbag has been individually hand carved and sculpted to create the natural and realistic feel.

We wanted to create a fully immersive experience, right down to the flooring – We added earth which has transformed into mud with a further addition of duckboards. During WW1 these were submerged to help the soldiers from standing in the mud and developing trench foot. A final addition was boot prints– this really adds to the authenticity.
