bomber command

Client: royal airforce museums

Scope: Interactives

The role of Bomber Command in the Second World War is a major and often overlooked part of the RAF story. Two new exhibitions, one at The Royal Air Force Museum London and one at RAF Museum Midlands, offer visitors a new perspective of the experience of RAF Bomber Command personnel. We worked closely with the client project team to develop two bespoke interactives which interpret complex stories in an accessible and engaging way. One interactive demonstrates to visitors the high number of risks that the aircrew faced at every stage of a raid.

The RAF Museum also recently opened a new permanent exhibition which explores the lesser known story of the RAF between the two world wars. We created an interactive that invited visitors to design their own squadron badge, using a lightbox to trace the various elements. Visitors can display their badge on the interactive for others to see or take it home with them as a souvenir.

Unusual Projects created beautiful and practical interactives for the Museum’s most recent exhibitions. The interactives have generated a very positive visitor response, helping us to further engage our audiences with the RAF story. We enjoyed working with Unusual Projects throughout the design process.
