hands on history

Client: royal armouries

Scope: Interactives

Sustainable exhibits are what our clients want and what we aim to provide. Back in 2008, many of our team members worked for a company who delivered the design development, build and installation an innovative exhibition called ‘Hands on History’ for the Royal Armouries, Leeds.

The interactives include the incredibly popular Pull a Bow, Knights View, Lift Weapon Weights, Trajectory, and Sword Grip. The interactives recently returned to the Unusual Projects workshops to update the graphics and have a general refurbishment of the interactive components and props, ensuring the exhibits reflect the Royal Armouries high standards of presentation and interpretation but also extending the life of perfectly good interactive exhibits.

The hands on galleries at the Royal Armouries Leeds are exceptionally popular and busy, we work with the Armouries team to provide planned maintenance visits to stay on top of wear and tear and to stop small issues becoming break downs to increase life span.

UP were attentive and reactive to our needs throughout this refurbishment of several major interactive stations. They suggested sensible solutions to ensure we kept to budget and schedule and the end product has been praised by many.
